About Me - the long version

Welcome to my website! I am so honored to serve on the Millard Board of Education and to be running for my third term.
I grew up in Lincoln and received an excellent public education at Holmes Elementary, Lefler Junior High, and Lincoln Southeast. I attended the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, where I got my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. While at UNL, I did a study abroad in economics at Oxford University.
Shortly after graduation, I married Jay Jolley and we've been happily married for 30 years. When we moved to Omaha in 1997 we knew we had to make Millard our home. Having grown up in Nebraska, I knew that the Millard schools were spectacular and there was never any doubt about where we'd put down roots. We have three children: Connor, a quant trader living in London; Evan, Head of Growth at a tech start-up in New York City; and Makenna, a sophomore studying computer science and business at UNL. All three are proud graduates of Millard North.
When Connor was born, I chose to stay home full-time. He started kindergarten at Harvey Oaks in 2005 and I began my journey as a volunteer in the Millard Public Schools. From classroom volunteer to PTO President to the MPS Foundation to co-chairing the levy override, and everything in between, I have poured my heart and soul into this school district for the last 22 years.
My most recent contribution to the district is serving on the Millard Board of Education. In February 2018, I was chosen unanimously by the existing Board to fill an open seat on the Board. I am honored that my fellow board members believed that I was the person best-suited and with the best experience to serve the students, families, teachers, and community members of Millard. I am in the final year of my second term. I twice have served as President of the Board.
I take my board service very seriously. I tour all 35 of our buildings every single year. I attend academic honors nights, arts performances, athletic competitions, and so much more. I believe that being visible in the district is vitally important, in that it helps me better understand the policies and curriculum we approve. It also shows our community that district leadership cares about our students and staff.
And I have taken my passion for public education beyond the boundaries of Millard by serving on the board of the Nebraska Association of School Boards. I am proud to say I was just elected to my second term as President of this board, a role I love, as it allows me to see how public education is improving lives all across the great state of Nebraska. In this role, I am proud to represent all school board members across our state.
At the conclusion of this message, you'll find a list of my Millard volunteerism, my work, and my community involvement. I hope when you read through it that it helps you understand the passion I have for Millard and for public education.
I want to continue my service to this spectacular district and I need your help to do that. I need your vote on November 3rd.
If you have ideas or concerns, I'm here to listen. If you want to share your love for our schools, I'm here to celebrate.
Thank you for stopping by and for your support! Go Millard! Stacy Jolley
